I've run into a number of people that have our lovely Google accounts and really haven't done much other than make a blog posts. I thought I would list some ways I use it and I'd also love to hear how you all are using yours!
Here we go!
1.) I made a Google calendar and have it on my teacher website with all my assignments listed. I also do this for my swim team schedule.
2.) I sync my bookmarks using Google Chrome's "sign into Chrome" feature and can access my bookmarks on any machine with Chrome (including my iPhone, iPad, laptop, and desktop.)
3.) I created an exit ticket and put it on my teacher website when we were in the computer lab.
4.) I created a Google+ account to follow education blogs and other teachers as well as share resources I find (MORE PEOPLE SHOULD JOIN SO I'M NOT ALL ALONE!)
5.) I use a Google form to have volunteers register for my swim/dive team meets. I also use it to keep track of their contact information.
6.) I store important documents in the 5GB of storage that's on Google Drive and can access that anywhere on any device.
I think I should be a Google sales rep.
How do you use your Google Account?
Eric thanks for the heads up on all of this. I'm still figuring out the kinks of linking the google calendar to my school website. But I think I may have gotten it. It seems overwhelming but many of these things can make things much easier. Thanks for the tips Mr. Hills.
ReplyDeleteI wish technology was easy for me. I know that there are a lot of things I could do, and learning about google docs was very cool but also overwhelming. My PLC team has decided to use google docs to store our agenda for each week so our teammates can go in and add to the agenda during the week and use it as a real working document. As for now some people are still having difficulty each week with logging in and remembering how to get in as well as other logistics. I know a lot of these technology pieces are meant to make our life easier but for some people it seems more difficult when it doesn't come as naturally. On another note I do need more storage and I would love to start using Google drive.
ReplyDeleteI agree, google docs is a great tool. I've used the google forms to set up surveys for student observations and for PLC working documents, as well.
ReplyDeleteOh! Ryan, that reminds me! We started using it for a behavior checklist so the teachers could update it after each class and then mom could check it easily at home. It seems to be going well so far!
