Spring Break!

I feel very fortunate to have a spring break…and a week long one at that! I know not all teachers are so lucky, but what a great chance for us to recuperate and reenergize for the last bit of the school year. I am not going anywhere exciting, but am just looking forward to catching up on other stuff that I haven’t had time to do.

So I am just wondering what other people’s plans are for spring break? How do you plan on spending your time off?

  1. Great question!I am going to California to drive highway one--which is on my bucket list! Very excited to take a break and to not check emails! If I could only figure out how to change my phone message too....

  2. I will be balancing work and relaxing over Spring Break. I collected the honors research papers last Friday, so I'll be grading those. My goal is to get them all done over Spring Break. That way I won't have any stress when I come back. But I'm also excited to go boating as the ice is off of most of the lakes around here.

On a different note, I was wondering how people felt about homework over break. I don't assign work in 7th grade because the quarter ends, but last year we were reading a large novel in 10th grade, so there had to be reading over break. I wonder if it is good to assign something small so that they are thinking abotu something academic during the week long break. But then again, perhaps it is best just to give them a moment to breath. Thoughts?

  3. Earlier this winter I decided I wouldn't spend the money on a plane ticket over spring break since my husband can't get away right now, and relatives in warm places are either out of town, or are moving, etc. So I thought I would leave an open-ended car trip to somewhere into the great beyond like in the middle of the week. Go where i feel, maybe take the dog. Perhaps see the Sandhill crane migration--or maybe just up to see friends in Duluth. But I know it is important to rest--whatever we do or don't do--breathe deeply and nap lots!
